I went to our Div 1 away match at West Brom in 2003 (who had gone down with us).

I'm pretty sure MC was so pissed off with the lack of intelligent movement in front of him that he played a couple of passes into the spaces where West Ham players should have been.

Not sure how we drew 1-1

If I remember right the West Ham fans gave him quite a bit of stick. Not our proudest moment. Top player and a top bloke.

I saw him play once for us (I don't get to many games!). He was awful. Gave the ball away so many time it was ridiculous. Kanoute was also playing and he was amazing.

Carrick was always going to be a luxury player for us for some reason. Needed better players around him.

Re: Michael Carrick Testimonial on ITV now...
sublime player he has been highly rated by top managers as he makes their job easy. I saw him play for Manure against us at UP. He turned a clearance into a goal for Ronaldo in three touches, destroyed us

Joe C, I remember you posting that back in 2003 or whenever it was!

Yes, that's what I'll remember the most but he did score a belter against Blackburn away. Shame we conceded 7 that day though.

Re: Michael Carrick Testimonial on ITV now...
One of the most underated players of his generation

How he has under 50 England caps is criminal

Great player and comes across as a really nice bloke

Deserved yesterday and what a great goal to top if off for him

That was me. It was while he was injured, he was in The Harrow absolutely smashed - not drugged up though. He had a group of hangers on that warned about not disrespecting "the man"

Re: Michael Carrick Testimonial on ITV now...
Always liked him as a player and seems a really decent chap, but with that comes what I always think has been his biggest weakness - he seems a bit of a big game bottle job, I can't remember a big game for club or counrmtry where he really turned up. I think that is underlined by his 'niceness'

There's also a clip on the BBC website at the moment from the 2006 World Cup, talking about how he was motm against Ecuador and proceeding to shownanshed load of clips where his passes go to a front man who loses it straight away or don't quite meet their target yet they talk about him like he's pirlo

All the money is going to charity, as did Nobles.

What's the problem?

Never really thought about him since he left. Doubt that he's thought about us much either.

Hid and bottled it plenty during that relegation year, went to the yids and then the Mancs. He can fuck right off.

I saw a programme on Sky recently with Carrick and Paul Merson. And to be fair, he did come across as a decent bloke.

However, he did sign for Tottenham, so we was hardly going to roll out the red carpet for him..
